Movie Review-Adam And Paul

Rating-R
Director-Lenny Abrahmson
Actors-Mark O'Halloran, Tom Murphy
Genre-Comedy/Drama
Year-2004

“Adam And Paul” is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. It follows two Dublin heroin addicts, Adam (Mark O’Halloran) and Paul (Tom Murphy), through one day and night as they try to get drugs. Adam is the smarter one, and is always planning schemes for Paul to carry out that are usually backfiring. Through the course of the day, Adam and Paul run into old friends and family who want to avoid them, small-time criminals, and other acquaintances. This movie might seem extremely depressing, and while it honestly shows the main characters’ sad lives, there are also unexpected moments of humour. There were times while I was watching the movie when I thought Adam and Paul reminded me of Vladimir and Estragon, the main characters in the Samuel Beckett play, “Waiting For Godot”. The movie’s screenplay, which Mark O’Halloran wrote, is wonderful. The screenplay, as well as the fantastic acting by Mark O’Halloran and Tom Murphy, helped make the characters feel very real. “Adam And Paul” is available to watch on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDxgtOsv6G0, and I really recommend it.

My Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5
